Toaster was the first dog we rescued. When we first saw her at a house in Alabama, she was missing an eye and couldn’t walk on her front leg. Before we could let the person know we wanted to help her, he had already tried to put her down. So you can imagine our surprise when two days later, we saw her trotting down the road just as happy and bouncy as ever. We knew it was her because of her missing eye and limp.
When we talked to the guy, he said he wasn’t sure how she survived because he had shot her with a .22. We took her this time. After a visit to the vet, we learned her leg injury was from an old gunshot wound. With some care, her leg has healed and she can now walk on it. We have rehomed her to a loving home in Vermont.
While hiking in the woods, we came across a dog who decided to join us. Remi, as he was named later, was very skinny and had a tumor on his side, but he was incredibly friendly and submissive.
We brought him to our rescue and started feeding him regularly. Over time, his tumor gradually disappeared, and he became a healthy, energetic dog.
We have rehomed Remi to someone in Franklin, GA. His journey from a stray in the woods to a beloved pet highlights the impact of care and attention.
Peanut was raised on a loving, all-natural homestead in Auburn, AL, Peanut grew up surrounded by little kids and various farm animals. His previous owners adored him but, unfortunately, didn’t have the time to train him to coexist peacefully with the farm animals.
After weeks of searching for a new home without success, Peanut’s owners made the decision to surrender him to our rescue organization. We were determined to find the perfect home for this sweet boy, and within just a few days, we did!
Peanut now lives with a wonderful couple in Birmingham, AL, who absolutely adore him. He has settled in beautifully and is thriving in his new environment.
